BPW Estonia celebrated 21st birthday
BPW Estonia celebrated its 21st birthday on November 8, 2013 and selected Woman of the Year for 2013 and Young Woman Entrepreneur for 2013. Nomination of the Woman of the Year is a 20 years old tradition, but Young Woman Entrepreneur was elected for the third time by the Young BPW Estonia.
The award is given to a young woman under 40 years of age who has established a business that is unconventional and outstanding in its field of activity and has gained trust from clients and recognition from other companies participating in the same field.
Young Woman Entrepreneur for 2013 is Darja Saar. She is member of board and executive director of ENTRUM. ENTRUM is youth entrepreneurship ideas contest and development program. Being only 33 years old, she has been running it successfully for four years already. She and her business have got recognition in Estonia and abroad. In 2012 Darja was elected Most Child Friendly person of the year.
Woman of the year 2013 is headmaster of University of Tartu Narva College Katri Raik. Thanks to her hard work Narva college opened its new house at the end of 2012.
Beside our own BPW members, we also hosted representatives of political parties, vice-chairman of the parliament, representatives from other female organizations and BPW guests from Latvia, Finland and Sweden. Our nominees were reflected in all Estonian TV-news, newspapers and bigger online news websites.
